CHEYENNE -- Anyone interested in hunting turkeys this fall, including the Black Hills, needs to submit an application to the Wyoming Game and Fish Department’s Cheyenne office by 5 p.m. Aug. 16. In the spring, hunters have been able to purchase a license over-the-counter for the Black Hills. This fall the quota in the Black Hills (area 1) is 750, up 250 licenses from last year. Quotas were also increased in the Buffalo/Sheridan area and Campbell County. AREA SEASON QUOTAS 1--------(Black Hills) Oct. 15-Nov. 20------------750 licenses; any turkey 2------- (Laramie Peak)Oct. 1--Nov. 30------------300 licenses; any turkey 3------- (Sheridan and Oct. 1--Nov. 30------------500 licenses; any turkey Buffalo area) 4------- (Goshen and Oct. 1--Nov. 30-------------200 licenses; male or bearded eastern Platte counties) turkey; no rifles on national guard base 5------- (Campbell Co.)Oct. 1--Nov. 20---------------100 licenses; any turkey 7------- (So. Johnson Co.)Oct. 1--Nov. 30------------100 licenses; any turkey 6,8,9------------closed Officially the fall turkey application period is July 1-- Aug. 15. Since the closing date falls on a weekend, the regulation allows the G&F to accept applications through the next business day. Fall turkey applications are available at license agents, G&F offices and by calling (800) 842-1934.
