LITTLE ROCK – Dove hunting in 1999 in Arkansas will again be a season with three segments. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at its meeting Friday, July 16, set the dove dates as Sept. 4-26, Oct. 9-31 and Dec. 18-31. The season structure includes an extra week in October instead of in early January. Other hunting dates for early migratory birds were also set, but duck and goose hunting dates won’t be set until the Commission’s Aug. 20 meeting in Little Rock, after federal guidelines are handed down. Teal (small early migrating ducks) season will be Sept. 11-26. Virginia and sora rail season is Sept. 1-Nov. 9. Woodcock season is Nov. 13-Dec. 12 and Jan. 1-15. Common snipe season is Nov. 6-Feb. 20. Purple gallinule season is Sept. 1-Nov. 9. Common moorhen season is Sept. 1-Nov. 9.
