The few times I wade fished with a camera I carried my one of my Nikonos 4A film cameras. They were really designed for underwater use but also did a good job above water, and you never had to worry about getting them wet.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Many the day I waded smallmouth rivers and trout streams with a film SLR around my kneck. Dumb luck, but I never dunked a camera when wading.
