LANSING--The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has completed its random drawing for elk permits this year, and 375 Michigan residents have been selected to participate in the August 26-31/September 16-20 and December 5-12 hunts.

Of the 375 hunters, 160 have the choice of taking an antlered or antlerless elk while 215 will be allowed to take only antlerless elk.
The Department^s population objective is 800 to 900 elk in the winter herd.
This year^s elk hunting areas will include portions of Alpena, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Emmet, Montmorency, Otsego, and Presque Isle counties.
