Aspiring young artists who want to take part in the sixth annual S.C. Junior Duck Stamp art contest will need to have their entries postmarked by Monday, Jan. 31. The Junior Duck Stamp contest, sponsored by the S.C. Department for Natural Resources (DNR) and Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, is patterned after the prestigious Migratory Duck Stamp contest, held annually to raise funds for waterfowl propagation projects along the Atlantic Flyway. The winner of South Carolina^s Junior Duck Stamp competition will advance to the national competition. The winning design of the national competition is made into a stamp, which sells for $5. All proceeds benefit conservation education, education awards and scholarships. Judging of the South Carolina Junior Duck Stamp entries will be held Friday, Feb. 11 in Columbia, and the winning artwork will be exhibited Feb. 18-20 at the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston alongside entries in the state Migratory Duck Stamp competition. Mail your entries to Junior Duck Stamp Contest, S.C. Department of Natural Resources, PO Box 167, Columbia, SC 29202.
