LINCOLN, Neb. – The CRP-MAP atlas of privately-owned Nebraska lands where walk-in hunting is permitted this year, is available from Game and Parks Commission offices, from more than 1,100 agents across the state who sell hunting permits, and is now posted on the Commission^s web site at http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/hunting/crp/crpatlas.html
The new page contains links to county maps showing the location of CRP-MAP sites and public hunting areas in Nebraska.
The CRP-MAP project is a joint effort of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, Pheasants Forever, and the Nebraska Environmental Trust Fund.
Walk-in hunting is allowed on private lands enrolled in the program from Sept. 1, 1999 through Feb. 29, 2000. Lands involved in the program are easily identified by distinctive yellow and black entrance and boundary signs. The sites are periodically inspected by Game and Parks personnel.
Nebraska^s CRP-MAP project began experimentally in 1997 in 28 counties with 20,000 acres enrolled in the project. This year there are 115,000 enrolled in the project. The Game and Parks Commission, Pheasants Forever, and the Nebraska Environmental Trust are proud to share in this partnership that brings together Nebraska^s hunters, landowners, private citizens and organizations and government agencies.
Landowners who have land enrolled in CRP-MAP are compensated with funds generated by sales of the Nebraska Habitat Stamp and money from Nebraska chapters of Pheasants Forever. Part of the CRP-MAP contract involves improvement of habitat.
