With good snowmelt and runoff expected, this is a good time for learning how to fish for crappie and bass. Arizona Game and Fish Department biologists are conducting bass and crappie fishing seminars in March. There are evening seminars March 16 and 17 at the department’s Mesa Regional Office, 7200 E. University, Mesa (just east of Power Road), and at the Arizona State Fairgrounds the evening of March 28. Mesa Regional Fisheries Program Manager Jim Warnecke and fisheries biologist Ty Gray will be conducting the bass and crappie fishing seminars. Warnecke said the increasing lake levels at places such as Roosevelt and Bartlett lakes should make for good fishing and spawning conditions this spring for both crappie and largemouth bass. For more information, call the Mesa Regional Office at (520) 981-9309.
