Oroville, CA .... Aaron Martens is leading the first day of the 1999 Angler^s Choice Western Pro-Am Championship. Aaron leads the event with .31 hundreds of a pound. His five fish limit of 11.40 lbs fended off Robert Lees charge of 11.09 lbs. Dan Warme is holding third with 9.75 lbs. The big bass on the pro side was caught by Joe Bitker. It weighed 4.12 lbs Rains, wind, and cold temperatures greeted the anglers shortly after take off. The storm off the west coast looks like it may hang around through tomorrow. Anglers reported catching their bass on worms, shaking them in deep water off main lake points. Mark Burgess is leading the amateur side with 9.61 lbs. Mark has a small advantage over Gary Morris who weighed in 8.51 lbs. Jack Cole is in third place with 8.47 lbs. The big bass on the am side is 2.86 lbs and was caught by Mark Nelson. Up for grabs are three fully rigged Bass Cat boats equipped with Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide trolling motors, and DieHard Marine batteries plus $11,000.00 in cash and prizes. The final day weigh-in will be at 3:00 pm Saturday November 20th at the spillway ramp on lake Oroville. The public is invited to attend the final day ceremonies.
